Pesh Flowers: “The Camberwell Beauty”

Our unique & beautiful flower shop has been supplying gorgeous blooms to the people of Camberwell and beyond for over 60 years. We are lucky to have a large shop and take pleasure in filling it to the brim with a huge and diverse stock of the freshest cut flowers, foliage and plants, sourced daily from New Covent Garden Flower Market and British growers. Being just down the road from the UK’s biggest flower market has its perks – we can source almost anything at very short notice and love seeking out the newest and most unusual varieties around. We buy British grown flowers whenever we can and have a particular soft spot for blousy blooms (peony season is our idea of heaven!), wild flowers straight from the meadow and lush foliage. We also stock the finest tropical varieties and all the traditional favourites, alongside a massive selection of indoor and outdoor plants including shelf upon shelf of oh so trendy succulents and cacti.

The floral design team all work within the shop so customers can see their designs come to life.  We have named our seasonal bouquets after butterflies including our feature bouquet aptly named “The Camberwell Beauty” after the butterfly which was discovered right here in Camberwell.

We have been sharing our passion for all things floral with students at our flower school for 10 years now and our relaxed fun and informative London based flower school is ever popular -especially when it’s a voucher bought as a gift!

We can offer our services locally within most of London and the surrounding areas, and we can also send flowers nationally and worldwide. Please visit http://www.flowersbypesh.co.uk for this service

My role at Pesh Flowers…
My days start at the same time as many people’s nights are just ending! Each morning, I search out the best fresh flowers, foliage, plants and more!  After a cup of coffee and a chat to some of London’s top suppliers,  I head back to the shop to start my “real” days work. Depending on the day, you might find me snipping stems and transforming blooms into beautiful displays, or meeting with clients to discuss wedding displays or upcoming events. I aim to use all the skills and knowledge I gleaned from my award winning florists diploma (NDSF), and challenge myself to be creative each day to keep our work fresh, exciting and on trend!
My favourite flower…

My favourite flowers are primroses – mostly because they are the first flower I picked as a child with my Nana and their pretty faces and delicate scent started me on my floristry journey. I am also totally in love with peonies – the blousy petals, the colour palette, the soft scent – even though they are only available for short time each year. That’s what makes them even more special! I created the “Pink Lace” bouquet from our Vintage range in part because I knew peonies would be perfect for it!

On the weekend, you’d probably find me…

…either up a ladder constructing a beautiful display for a wedding, or putting the finishing touches on floral elements of a client’s party. Sundays are usually reserved as family days – my 3 year old twin boys, husband and I are out in the woods or country house gardens climbing trees and having a picnic. And Sunday nights are best for catching up with friends over a G&T.

Right now, I’m obsessed with…

Baking (cakes especially!) & coastal walks filled with wild foliage, tall grasses and beautiful British grown flowers.

My role at Pesh Flowers…

I have been at Pesh Flowers for over 10 years, and no two days are the same! The endlessly changing flower supply and variety of work means I’m always facing a new creative challenge. I love setting up our indoor and outdoor display of fresh cut flowers, and take every opportunity to get involved with creating beautiful designs for our customers. Whether it’s a ‘just because’ bouquet, or a farewell bouquet to a lost loved one, I always feel honoured to help customers select beautiful flowers.

My favourite flower…

Who could pick just one?! My favourite changes with each season! Right now, I have a soft spot for the happy face of a sunflower. They are bright and beautiful!

On the weekend, you’d probably find me…

…immersed in wedding planning! I’m getting married next year, and you could never imagine how difficult it is to choose flowers when you’re a florist! Every wedding we work on makes me change my mind!
Right now, I’m obsessed with…

Right now in obsessed with interior design as I’ve recently moved house. I’ve found a new love for all the wild flowers and garden grown flowers we have been getting into the shop.

About Me…

After 9 years of managing education programmes in the not-for-profit sector, I decided to leave the office life behind to pursue a long-held dream of becoming a florist. I haven’t looked back and have now spent 6 happy years at Pesh Flowers, working as a florist and Flower School tutor, and gaining distinction in a City & Guilds Floristry Diploma.

My favourite flower…

The sweetpea! It smells divine and means summer has arrived. I love working on our seasonal bouquets because many of them use sweet peas.

On the weekend, you’d probably find me…

At the park playing with my children (and eyeing up the foliage!)

Right now, I’m obsessed with…

Trailing succulents, flowering British foliage…and tap dancing! Never hurts to take on a new hobby!

My role at Pesh Flowers…
I joined Pesh just a few years ago and am loving being part of the team. I love our diverse range of flowers and our friendly customers. No two days are ever the same! I design and create bouquets and floral displays according to customers’ specific requests. I also love unpacking new stock and seeing what delights Elaine has sourced for us.
My favourite flower…

My favourite flowers right now are Stocks.I love the pastel shades and their gorgeous scent- especially the British grown varieties  as they are by far the best. I also love Scabious in the soft pale blue shades; such a unique and pretty flower!

On the weekend, you’d probably find me…

At the weekends you will find me with my boyfriend and one year old son watching him discover the big wide world. We usually try to spend a few days back home in picturesque Cornwall each month. If I get the chance I also endulge my alter Ego (pre-mummy) and go to live music gigs in London!

Right now, I’m obsessed with…
Right now, I’m very focused on child proofing my home as we now have a walker! I also have a guilty pleasure of watching Soaps and enjoying delicious Italian food.
